In eighth grade, I was cast in the Bay City Jr. High production of Sleepy Hollow and ever since then I have been in love with theatre as an art form and as an educational tool. While in high school I had the opportunity to do comedies, modern dramas, musicals, UIL One Act Play Contest, new works, as well as work with outside organizations producing theatre in rural South Texas. During my high school theatre, I had the chance to act, stage manage, design shows, and lead teams. In my junior year of high school I began to notice the positive impacts that theatre has on students' success and growth; especially in Title One Schools. It was after much thought and consideration that I decide to enter into the field of Educational Theatre and become a positive impact in students' lives as they explore and discover who they are and the truth of the world around them.
As a Theatre Educator, it is my goal to help students with effective teamwork, empathy, leadership, effective communication, and problem-solving; while also fostering an appreciation for theatre as an art form. While I do not expect every student I teach to become an actor or designer, I want them to be able to use the skills that theatre teaches in all aspects of their life.
